Kid Poker’s 2025 WSOP Outlook: Fun, Wine, and Chasing Player of the Year
Daniel Negreanu is gearing up for the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) with a fresh perspective, emphasizing having fun and enjoying the “summer camp” atmosphere over solely focusing on results. This comes after three consecutive losing summers at the WSOP, though he did break an 11-year bracelet drought in 2024 by winning the prestigious $50,000 Poker Players Championship.
Now eligible for the Seniors Event, the 50-year-old GGPoker ambassador has a packed schedule, tentatively planning to play 53 bracelet events. While he won’t necessarily play all of them, he intends to compete nearly every day, even allowing for some wine and golf to make the series a more “well-rounded” experience.
Negreanu is also setting his sights on the 2025 WSOP Player of the Year (POY) title, especially with the updated scoring system that prioritizes quality results like final tables and bracelet wins over a large number of cashes. He believes his odds are “very, very good” under the new rules.
His 2024 performance saw him win his seventh WSOP bracelet in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, a highly coveted event. Despite this significant win, his overall 2024 results were a “tough one” with a reported loss of nearly $1 million at the WSOP. However, he also had success in other PokerGO Tour (PGT) events throughout 2024, securing two PGT titles.
As the 2025 WSOP kicks off on May 27, Negreanu’s fans will undoubtedly be following his journey closely, both on the felt and through his popular vlogs.
